Travel & Stay

Flight

Arrival airport is ICN: Incheon International Airport

Keep in mind that you lose time on your way to Korea and gain time on your way back to the U.S. So you might have to leave Thursday evening to arrive Saturday morning and might be able to leave Monday to arrive Monday on your way back.

How to get around Seoul

Seoul has an excellent public transportation system including subways, buses and taxis. We highly recommend using the subway to beat the city traffic! But if you are in your best high heels, feel free to grab one of the empty taxis on the road by simply waiving at them like how you’ve seen it on movies. 👋👋 If you see Korean words lit-up in red in front of the taxi cab, it means it is free for a grab. You should be able to show the driver a location on a map to tell them where to go. In case you wonder, Uber/Lyft is not available in Korea.

Explore

Hong & Bora plan on staying for a week post the wedding celebration to hang out with those who are around in Seoul. So we highly encourage our friends to stay at least for few days to explore the beautiful city with or without us.

We will be organizing some fun local & touristy events during the post-wedding week for anyone who wants to join. Stay Tuned!

Lodging Options

We recommend the following three lodging options while staying in Korea depending on your needs and wants.

For Convenience: Hotels

We recommend this option if you are short on time and want to maximize for your convenience around the wedding or if you are bougie and got $$$ to burn!

The wedding venue is located at The Shilla Seoul, a luxury 5-star hotel, so that’s the most convenient option. Any other hotels in the area should work well too.

For Adventures: Airbnb

Airbnb is very common in Korea. We recommend you stay in Itaewon, which is close to our wedding venue and after party location, central to Seoul, and a cool neighborhood in its own right.

Two more neighborhood options:

  • Places near Gangnam station is also an option if you want to explore the bustling and bougie side of Seoul featured in PSY’s song Gangnam Style.

  • Places near Hongik University or Shinchon station is also an option if you want to experience Korea’s hipster / indie music culture.
